"0-100" – Family performance

“0-100” is a family performance where Frode Eggen tells stories that are created during the performance, in collaboration with Alpaca Ensemble, which is based on music written by jazz musician Bjørn Marius Hegge. The performance is based a lot on reaction and feedback from the children watching, which makes each performance unique!

“I imagine an open crossover landscape with a mix of classical music, popular music, jazz and theatre music. I’m going to write several “hooks” or ques of different emotional nature that can be used wherever appropriate in the performance. In addition, I will write music that stands on its own to tone down parts of the story from the performance. When I read the description of the project, I immediately think that I will address the theme of the project and try to play musically on this by cracking down on gender roles and I will stretch to make music that can match the humorous and satirical and the slightly “childish” theme. In addition, contributing as a performer is an aspect that gives a great deal of leeway and freedom both compositionally and athlete-wise.”

Frode Eggen is the centerpiece of the performance and guides us through fantastic and realistic children’s fantasies. He works as an actor, improviser and clown. He has also worked with film, TV, theater, performance, dance and radio and is known as “he guy” from Telenor commercials for the last 5 years. Frode has 16 years of experience as an improv actor, something that the performance is characterized by and makes each performance unique! He has been associated with Det Andre Teatret and is Norwegian champion in Teatersport. He runs the company DVELL and What’s Coming Now…? in collaboration with Eldbjørg Raknes.

In May 2021, Eggen performed “I’m sitting in a room” by Alvin Lucier during NyMusikk’s festival “Only Connect”. He works daily for Hospital Clowns and creates laughter and joy in the hospital!

Bjørn Marius Hegge has created the composition that forms the framework for the performance. He has taken a master’s degree in jazz performance with double bass as his main instrument at NTNU – Department of Music, and continues to influence the Trøndersk jazz scene more and more from the composer side.

Hegge started the quintet Hegge in 2016 and was joined by Jonas Kullhammar (tenor sax), Martin Myhre Olsen (alto and soprano sax), Vigleik Storaas (piano) and Håkon Mjåset Johansen (drums). They released the album Vi är ledsna men du får inte längre vara barn in 2017 and won spellemannprisen 2017 in the class jazz for the release.
